High school seasons are wrapping up and club activities are beginning to ramp back up. The best time to make jumps as a player is when you have the fewest scheduled games. It is also when the weather is the worst and your competitors are least likely to be putting in work. Winter water polo is the difference between the teams that hit the ground running in Spring vs. the teams that must “play their way into shape”. Playing your way into shape is awful because it typically includes getting drowned in front of your friends and family early on in the season. Pain now or pain later. The choice is yours.
Most age group poloists have an on again, off again relationship with the weight room and work outside of the pool. Consistency and intensity over 8 weeks will turn you into a different player. Consistency and intensity over 4 years will turn you into a different person. Consistency and intensity throughout your entire career will make you a legend.
